5 Areas of Your Life You Must Safeguard When Pursuing Your Dreams & Goals

I’ve been talking a lot about goal setting and resolutions and keeping track of progress, that I thought I’d share some thoughts on what we must do to stay focused.

It’s so easy to get distracted by the world around us. It’s easy to get discouraged by other people who like to make sure we know not to get our hopes too high when we share with them the good news of our plans to reach new goals. And it’s a mood killer when we set out to pursue our goals and then nothing comes of it.

So, how do we stay focused? How can we stay motivated to keep reaching toward our dreams and goals when our current reality keeps saying we’re still where we were before?

Here is what we must do:

In one word, safeguard.

1. Safeguard our time.

Time, a valuable and nonrenewable resource, must be given top priority. That means using it wisely. If we knowingly do something that could waste our valuable time, we need to change that. Whatever you do, consider the implications. If watching the TV interferes with your productivity, if it keeps you from working toward your goals, get that back in check. We have just as much time as everyone else and many people are hugely productive despite working a separate full-time job, so watch how you spend your time.

2. Safeguard our energy.

If we’re consumed by negative things, we’re going to attract more negative things. On the other hand, if we’re consumed by positive things, more positive things will come our way. This is how energy works. Negative emotions such as anger and frustration are low-level energy frequencies. To attract our dreams and desires, we must experience positive emotions, and thus higher energy frequencies, like joy and gratitude. So, we must safeguard our energy.

3. Safeguard our goals.

Have you ever had a great goal and then you shared it with someone who turned out to be discouraging? Maybe you even set that goal aside because you started to second-guess yourself. It’s fun to share the good news of our hopes and dreams with others, but when it is met with negativity, that can interfere with our energy levels. So, if you can, keep your big goals to yourself. When you start seeing progress, then maybe you can share some details to potential naysayers.

4. Safeguard our thoughts.

We get more of what we focus on, so if we want happiness, we need to block out (or at least limit) the things that will interfere with that desire. Being angry all the time will not magically lead to us being happy. A change needs to be made. If we fill our thoughts with good and positive things, we’ll allow ourselves to attract more good and positive things.

5. Safeguard our health.

Ill health can lead to us feeling uninspired or unmotivated. When we’re not feeling well, we can feel fatigued and drained. And that’s not going to help us reach our goals. So, take note of what foods and beverages you consume and how you are treating your body.

It’s okay to take some time off. Watch a movie, relax on the porch with a cup of coffee, or stay in bed reading a book when you need to. But don’t allow yourself to disregard these areas of your life.

Thoughts, goals, energy, health, and time all contribute to our efforts. Safeguard these things so you can feel at your best at least most of the time.

You are in charge of your life, and you owe it to yourself to manifest your dreams and desires.

Happy Manifesting!
