How to Tap into Positive, Healing Energy

Are you feeling drained? Got a case of the blahs? Ready to veg out on the couch because you’re just not feeling motivated or inspired?

These feelings can come from any number of sources. Maybe you had a conversation with someone that left you feeling tired or maybe you’re experiencing a food coma. Whatever the case, you have two choices: you can ride the wave of the draining, uninspiring feeling, or you can tap it away and feel energized again.

What do I mean by ‘tap it away’?

Tapping, a common term for Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is a healing modality that redirects the energy inside the body. Our bodies are made up of energy, and in an ideal state, this energy moves about freely, energizing us and allowing us to live productive lives, whatever ‘productive’ means for each of us. But when we experience negative emotions, or take in the draining energy of someone else, it can get stuck in our own body. By tapping on certain acupressure points, much like how acupuncture works, we can release this stuck energy and get it flowing again.

I know it sounds weird, but it starts to make sense when we commit to a life of positive energy. When we have let go of negative emotions, we are able to feel the weight of other people’s negative emotions more easily because we’re not distracted by our own. I encourage you to test this out for yourself. Just be careful not to get sucked back in again.

So, how do we tap away the feeling of fatigue or a case of the blahs?

First, we start with the set up.

But before we get into that, I want to say this: if you are new to EFT/Tapping, I highly encourage you to check out my YouTube channel. I have a selection of guided tapping sessions that will walk you through the process. And you’ll probably feel the positive effects after doing them, too!

Okay, back to tapping for fatigue…

The set up in EFT/Tapping is a set of ‘even though’ statements, like “Even though I’m feeling drained, I choose to honor how I feel.”

Tappers usually use three statements for the set up. There’s no magic number of statements and you can use however many you want to, but the main point here is to express how you feel through an ‘even though’ phrase and then wrap it up with a forgiveness-type statement, one like “I choose to honor how I feel and I love and accept myself anyway.” And this part is done by tapping on the side of the hand, the Karate chop point.

The next step, which typically starts at the acupressure point on the eyebrow, is to lay out all the emotions. How are you feeling? Why do you think you feel this way? What could be the cause(s)? It’s best to get everything out, every emotion. And please, take all the time you need.

The third step, as you continue tapping on the acupressure points, is to turn the session toward the positive. Maybe you only go as far as saying “I’m open to seeing things in a new, more positive way” or you keep on until you can say “I am feeling relaxed and motivated now.”

I know how easy it is to let fatigue turn into an entire day of nothingness, and it really does take some ambition to start the tapping session, especially a self-guided one, not to mention sticking with it until you feel better, but I encourage you to do it and keep tapping because the benefits are real.

We have to take control of our day, our emotions and how we feel, so that we can live the life of our dreams. Those dreams of ours are possible. But it does take some effort on our part to take the first step.
