How to Handle Frustration When There’s Nothing You Can Do

Have you been frustrated lately about things you can’t do anything about? Maybe it was something you could have prevented, if you had only known about it. Like when Facebook limits your account because you followed too many people all at once. If you had known what the limit was before you committed this crime, you could have avoided it.

This happened to a friend of mine recently. She unfollowed almost everyone five months ago in an effort to clean up her newsfeed and to improve her focus on her work. But then she decided to follow them all again the other day – that’s when Facebook shut her down without warning. **Cautionary tale**

Or maybe the event has nothing to do with you and what you did or didn’t do.

Unresolved situations are so frustrating. Like when the internet goes down and you try needlessly to do every possible thing to get it back on. Only you can’t. Because it’s all on the service provider.

Why do we feel so restless when something’s not working? Why do we constantly have to check for an update? Is it back on? Is it working again? Oh my gosh, this thing still isn’t working!

I bet you can relate.

If we could just let it go and let things work themselves out whenever it happens, imagine how much more peaceful we would feel.

The universe often gives us signs. The important question isn’t ‘why?’ It’s ‘what are we going to do with it?’

If the internet goes down and you’ve already reset the modem or done whatever the suggested fix is, and it still doesn’t work, the universe may be telling you to go do something else for a little while. So, what have you been putting off? What are the things you know you should be focusing on? What do you keep avoiding? Or what have you always wanted to do but have been too distracted by the internet to focus on it?

If you’re feeling frustrated, it’s time to turn that energy into something that works for you. And instead of viewing this situation in a negative way, focusing on what you can’t do, see it in a positive light. What opportunity is this situation reminding you to act on?

If you can’t get your mind right to focus on this positive route, try some tapping to release the frustration. There’s no sense in frustration (unless you’re a writer, for instance, and you need it to help you envision a scene). Most of the time, frustration is just poorly used energy in the body. Turn it into something good and you’ll feel so much better!
