How to Combat the Protective Nature of the Subconscious Mind

Isn’t it interesting that when we set out to bask in positive energy, the energy of others tries to come in and sabotage us? Or when we decide to start working on a goal, distractions pop up to keep us from the work?

It’s like our own subconscious mind is trying to protect us. The beliefs that are ingrained in our minds have taught us certain things. Maybe attracting more money into our lives is viewed as an unsafe activity because it means something bad will happen. Or if we start working toward a goal, we will experience frustration, disappointment, or heartbreak.

How noble of our subconscious mind to protect us this way, right? I mean, it’s doing us a favor.

Actually, the favor isn’t what you think. If we flip it around, we can see what emotional block we need to work on removing. That is a huge benefit to being held back because knowledge is power.

So, what do we do about this? How do we get rid of this annoying behavior of our subconscious mind so we can start attracting all of our dreams and desires?

We tap on it.

If you haven’t tried EFT/Tapping yet, it’s going to seem quite strange. But as silly as it feels, it’s actually a powerful technique. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques, and it is used in a similar way to acupuncture. With EFT, we tap on the acupressure points, usually with our fingertips, to get the body’s energy to flow. This energy can become blocked as a result of negative emotional beliefs about ourselves and the world around us.

A common desire is to earn more money. And many people use the Law of Attraction in an attempt to obtain it. The process involves reprogramming the subconscious mind to have beliefs that are in line with money attraction.

While this certainly works for some people, it doesn’t work for all. The trouble with the Law of Attraction is that sometimes our emotional blockages are stubborn and require extra work. We could spend months, even years, practicing the Law of Attraction, but if we’re not getting to the heart of the matter, digging deep to uncover our true beliefs that are keeping us blocked, we may never experience the success that we want.

That’s where EFT/Tapping comes in.

But in order for this process to yield massive results, we must get super-specific about our feelings and we must keep addressing each new revelation as it comes in.

We can do this on our own, but it’s hugely beneficial to work with an EFT coach, mainly because most people can experience results much quicker with a coach than they can practicing EFT on their own. Certified EFT practitioners are trained to read between the lines, so to speak, and can see and understand statements from an outsider’s perspective. We can also guide our clients in each session with tapping scripts that are personalized to their specific beliefs and emotional blockages. Getting specific is the key to massive results.

So, how do we use tapping to protect our energy and to stay focused?

First, we get specific about how we’re feeling. Second, we tap as we voice our feelings and then direct ourselves to seeing the truth of things.
