How to Get the Most Out of EFT Tapping

When we’re surrounded by negative emotions, the world around us sucks and we can’t seem to catch a break, we likely have stuck energy or an emotional blockage.

And these blockages can lead us down a dark path with no end in sight, unless we do something about them.

That’s where EFT comes in.

EFT, which stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is also known as tapping, is an effective tool for releasing this stuck energy in the body. We tap lightly with our fingertips on the meridian line as we bring our negative emotions, whether known or deeply buried in our subconscious mind, to the surface. And as we tap and express our emotions, we start to feel relief. Eventually the events that caused us to feel so icky start to lose their power over us.

The behind-the-scenes work involves removing the emotional blockages and getting the energy flowing within us again. For more information, check out my page on how EFT works.

EFT is such an effective tool for providing emotional and even physical relief. And as expected, there are some things that can make it even more effective.

So, here are five tips to help you get the most out of your EFT/Tapping efforts:

1. Stay hydrated.

Water acts as a conductor for the energy within us, which allows for the energy to move more easily in the body. So, naturally, dehydration can impede the results of tapping. It’s also hard to feel motivated when we feel sluggish or foggy, so be sure that you’re hydrated when you tap on the points.

2. Be specific and honest.

In order to remove our emotional blockages, we need to acknowledge what they are. For effective tapping, we must be super specific and honest about how we feel so that we can call them all to the surface and begin the work of reprogramming how we feel about them.

3. Dig deep.

There may be some events in our past that we’d prefer stay buried, but again, we must call them to the surface so that we can experience a therapeutic release from them. And there may be cases where certain connections start to occur to us once we’ve begun tapping.

4. Tap on the negative emotions that pop up.

In conjunction with being specific and honest, we must keep tapping on all the new things that pop up. It doesn’t have to be all done in a day, although imagine how great you would feel if there wasn’t a single thing left in your past that bugged you.

5. Give yourself grace.

It can be emotionally and physically draining to release years and years of emotional blockages, so give yourself some grace. Maybe you’re not ready to face a particular event yet or maybe you need a break. Whatever the case, know that you’re doing great. Keep tapping as you’re able and working through all the blockages.

Bonus Tip — Tap right away when you’re feeling down.

There’s no sense hurting yourself longer than you have to, so whenever you’re feeling down or out of sorts, tap on the acupressure points as you bring your emotions to the surface. This should get you to feeling better much quicker!
