How to Tackle a Bad Mood and Take Back Control of Your Day
Do you find yourself slipping into negative thoughts? Do you feel stressed or emotionally or physically drained? Do you struggle to see the positive when you’re in the throes of a bad mood? Do you feel irritable and that you hate everyone or everything?
It may seem that just when we get a handle on our energy levels and we’re feeling great and everything is going wonderfully, something comes up behind us and pushes us off the ledge.
Maybe it was an inconsiderate neighbor or maybe it was something a coworker said or maybe our pet is just super annoying and getting under our skin. Whatever the cause, it’s bugging us. And now on top of that are all the other things we’ve actually been handling quite well. But because this one thing is bugging us, Pandora’s box is now open and letting things pour out willy-nilly. Because, well, why not?
You and I both know that if we don’t get a handle on this and get that box sealed stat, we’ll continue on down a dark road.
And while it may seem that there is nothing we can do about it, there is a way. You’re not going to like the wording, but bear with me…
So, here’s how you can close up that box and take back control of your day — get over yourself!
I don’t mean that in a mean way.
But it’s true. We have the power to rule our day. So, if we have the power to do that, it’s senseless to let a negative thought, or whatever is troubling us, control how we feel and what we do. It’s not okay to let this thing sabotage our work.
The question is, how do we flip the switch?
Well, we get over ourselves by rejecting the negative thoughts and emotions.
We have to break the cycle of the negative thoughts. So, after we’ve dwelled on the negative for a few minutes (hopefully less!), we start tapping on the acupressure points while we say positive I AM affirmations, like I AM a wonderful success, I AM blessed, I AM positive energy. Do this for 10-20 minutes, even better with high frequency music or with a guided I AM video on YouTube, and you’ll be surprised how much better you will start to feel.
If you need to, tap on your negative feelings, too, using the common EFT/Tapping set up statements.
Feeling unusually irritable, fatigued, or just not quite right may be a sign that self-care is needed. Maybe you need a vitamin or nutrient supplement. Maybe you need to add vegetables to your diet. Maybe you need to exercise more or drink more water. So, I encourage you to consider those areas, too.
A negative thought can lead us into dark places. And irritability can make it worse. So, get a handle on those negative thoughts and take back control of your day now!
