The Simple Reality of Indecision
Do you have a choice you need to make? Are you tossing up each option, weighing the pros and cons, but you still can’t decide?
Here’s a thought: maybe you keep having a desire because it’s something you should actually do. But you keep telling yourself it’s not right or it will never work. Maybe you are the one who is creating the block because of a limiting belief.
Now there are certain urges we should not act on, but provided no one else is negatively affected, what’s the harm in doing it?
If you have a dream, learning to cook good food for instance, what’s the harm in that? You could start small by gathering recipes. Then you select a few recipes you want to try. After that, you plan out your meals and write out a grocery list.
But you stop yourself. Maybe it’s too much work. Maybe it just feels unnatural. Or maybe you don’t even bother looking for recipes because you already know you’re not going to follow through.
This is a simplified example. So, let’s talk about one on a deeper level. A career change.
Let’s say you’ve always wanted a career in a new field. But things in your current situation are going okay. You’re making it work. Still, deep down inside your soul, you know that you would be happier if you were working in that dream field.
The question is, what’s stopping you?
I get it. Change is uncomfortable. You have to learn new habits and routines. Maybe you have to go through an interview process or spend years in school. And if it’s a business, you have to start building relationships with prospects. You have to get your name out there so people come to know you.
And if your indecision is related to something that requires a lot of extra work, maybe you’re reluctant to start in the first place. So, you ask yourself: should I even do it? What if I spend all this time and effort on it and I get nowhere? What if it’s a waste of time?
Well, the thing is, if you’re always thinking and dreaming of doing something, but you hold yourself back because of what it might entail, you’re likely experiencing doubt and fear. And if you don’t resolve those feelings, you will be wasting your time even if you give it a shot.
So, that indecision is a simple thing, really. If you have the desire and it won’t hurt anyone else, give it a shot. Start small if you must, but start. And definitely work at removing the doubt and fear so that you don’t give up when it gets hard or feels too unnatural.
Change can be weird. But it can also be really rewarding.
If you do start working toward a goal or dream, and you find yourself struggling, tap on it. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also called tapping, is one effective way to eliminate the blocks that keep us from reaching our goals and dream life.
The great thing is, you can use tapping to keep you motivated and inspired while you work toward reaching this goal you’ve been putting off for too long. You owe it to yourself to give it a shot!
